Strategic Planning Definition
In strategic planning, you are looking towards the future in a project. You are setting a plan to make sure a project is properly executed. There are many factors that need to be taken into consideration as you are planning, it needs to be attainable in the time frame provided with the budget that is provided. Strategic planning helps you set your team up for success and clearly states what goals need to be achieved and their deadline.
Strategic Planning in Leadership
As I mentioned previously, when using strategic planning it helps everyone on the team get on the same page. It clearly outlines what needs to be done, who needs to do it, and what the deadline is. Team members can often feel overwhelmed in a project because a lot needs to be done and they may not have an idea on where to start. I have completed projects with and without strategic planning before. Whenever I take the time to clearly outline things, I find that communication in the team is better and everything gets done in a timely manner.
Strategic Planning Artifact
The assignment I chose for this concept was one I completed while planning what to do with a piece of land and what we would include to ensure it’s success. This project required me to put a lot of thought into what needs to be done to ensure the long-term success of the town. This project allowed me to think outside of the box and consider what would need to be done to maintain the town even after it has been completed.
